Improve your flute playing this summer!
- Back by request: Breathing, Dynamics, Articulation, Phrasing
- All-day workshop for high school students on July 16
- New this summer: Vibrato, Embouchure Building
I signed on for a few of Catherine’s summer workshops last year at the urging of my flute teacher…I didn’t expect to breathe through a cocktail stirrer, or blow party favors, or do rabbit faces before nailing a B flat. All these techniques changed the way I approach the instrument and the notes I am now able to play with more grace, tone and phrasing. Run to this extraordinary teacher.
I seem to enroll in more of Catherine’s Summer Workshops every year! The skills she teaches are not just ‘once and done,’ but build on each other in complex ways that keep me coming back for more.
Being able to work with other students who shared my passion for the flute was like no other experience that I have ever had. From articulation to tone, in just a few hours my skill had increased mountains and I know I can say the same for everyone else that took the class.
Flutist and educator Catherine LeGrand is hosting workshops throughout the summer at her Durham studio. Students of ALL skill levels are welcome and encouraged to participate!
LeGrand, a seasoned professional performer and instructor for over 30 years, will devote 10 individual workshops to a variety of topics. An all-day workshop is scheduled in July. Ms. LeGrand, faculty member at Campbell University, has performed with the Houston Symphony, is a former principal flutist with the Houston Grand Opera’s Texas Opera Theater Orchestra, and has taught hundreds of flutists of all skill levels through her private instruction, masterclasses and workshops. Don’t miss this opportunity!
